WORKSHOP
The C1-INH Deficiency Workshop is currently the only international forum focused on HAE as a clinical disorder.
The principal organizer of this series of events is the Hungarian HAE Center. Hungary has hosted the conference of HAE experts on six occasions already. The latest Workshop was held in Budapest, in May 2009, with participants from all over the world.
The first Workshop took place in 1999, at Visegrád, following the establishment of the C1-INH Deficiency Working Group by 15 international experts in 1998, at Rhodes. In addition to medical professionals, researchers, representatives of pharma companies, the first Workshop was attended by the deputies of patient self-help groups. This combination of inviting all four interrelated parties has been retained on subsequent events and had a prolific effect on joint thinking.
The first event was followed by a series of conferences at two-year intervals; each subsequent Workshop met with gradually increasing interest. By now, it has become a genuine scientific and professional forum, reckoned by HAE specialists as a useful event.
